  • Actuators: The key pieces to enable energy conversion into movement
  • Power source: Robots can run batteries or on a continuous power supply backed by sources, such as hydraulic, solar, and pneumatic. DC or AC motors are installed to convert electrical energy into mechanical.

Sometimes robots are crafted to do simple tasks like cleaning the home or pulling heavy materials. Other times, they are tailored to assist top medical professionals in surgeries.   • Service robots. Mostly deployed in the retail, healthcare, and hospitality sectors to maximize their mobility and human interaction capabilities. They are also fit to service more demanding settings, such as in space, agricultural applications, and police work.

In a Global Industrial Robotics Market Revenue Review available at Statista, in 2021 the global market for industrial robots was sized around USD 43.8 Billion. By 2027, the very same market is expected to reach USD 63.9 Billion.   

As to the domestic sector, the Global Household Robot Market was valued at USD 6.81 Billion in 2021. It is expected to reach USD 21.94 Billion by 2027 (source: Mordor Intelligence). 

Impressive figures for a remarkable industry! Especially, looking forward to seeing the innovations coming to the domestic sector, as its value will triple over the next five years.   

Final Thoughts

I believe that robotics is already the key driver of competitiveness and flexibility in large-scale manufacturing industries. Without it, many successful manufacturing industries wouldn’t be able to compete from their current bases of operation. Robots will continue to gain acceptance across sectors. As we already know, their main position in society is in a capacity to assist humans by taking on the jobs that are dirty, dull, and dangerous allowing greater productivity.
